My friend Amber asked me to shoot some portraits of her to send home to her family. Being a landscape photographer, I was a little hesitant at first because I really didn’t think I had the equipment or the experience to shoot people, but she assured me that she had confidence in me. The day we picked was just before Christmas in 2009, and after a decent snowfall that week the scenery was just too good to pass up, so in addition to the portraits she wanted, I also managed to sneak in a couple of landscapes as well, with the added bonus of a pretty girl. This shot was taken on a whim, after I asked her simply to walk away from me. I snapped it right before she turned around. It’s still one of my favorites.
